Little Random Projects & More Washer Jewelry

If your month of May is anything like mine, it is BUSY! I’ve been MIA from the blogosphere lately (sorry)…I just haven’t had the time to do anything crafty lately. Well, not exactly nothing, just not anything big or truly blog-worthy.
Here’s a few things I did do:DSCN7894I made those awesome Cheesecake-stuffed Strawberries from The Sweets Life that were all over Pinterest
DSCN7897I made a batch for Teacher Appreciation Week with a “berry special” tag.  They were a hit!  BTW, my son also thinks these are awesome!!
I made some more washer jewelry too!
One for the neighbor girl who helped us with some yard work:

And, I was able to get a smaller font (lowercase) set from Hobby Lobby…I’m super excited that they are now carrying this stuff!!  So, I used it to make a Mothers’ Day necklace for my aunt.  Each washer is imprinted with the initial of one of her children:DSCN7923DSCN7925Then, I made a piece for each of her daughters….an initial necklace (not pictured) for one and a ribbon/washer bracelet for the other.  I made the bracelet using some pretty ribbon I found in the $1 bin at Michael’s.  DSCN7926DSCN7930To wear it, you simply tie it in a bow.DSCN7932DSCN7935Then, I made one for myself using the same technique.  It started as a necklace, but I ended-up changing it to a bracelet after making the above one for my cousin.
These are photos of the necklace:DSCN7883I used this cool jute ribbon.  Isn’t that fun? And, it looks so good with the copper.DSCN7882DSCN7917DSCN7893Now that school’s out, I’m hoping that life slows down a bit and I’ll get my craft on again!
See ya soon!DSCN7111

Happy Mothers’ Day!

“A man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best,
but his mother the longest.”
~Irish Proverb

We celebrated with a family dinner at Granny’s house last night.  Then, my uncle got us watching a marathon of the History Channel’s Pawn Stars.  We were all piled in the living room guessing what things would be worth, whether they would buy it, et cetera….we couldn’t stop watching it.  Smile
Plenty of food and lots of laughs…..a perfect way to celebrate Mothers’ Day (and my Dad’s birthday).

Wishing all of you a great celebration today!

“When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts.  A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.”  ~Sophia Loren

“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.”
~Washington Irving

“I regard no man as poor who has a godly mother.” ~Abraham Lincoln

DIY Wedding Gifts #3: Family Name Sign

Last of the wedding gifts…promise.  Smile This one is my favorite though…..a family name sign made out of recycled wood fencing.
I had some old fencing that I saved…just waiting for a fun project!  So, I cut one board into three sections using my jigsaw.  Then I cut one of the thirds in half (the middle section) then in half again…..so you should have 5 pieces.DSCN7780
DSCN7781I fastened the two short pieces to the sign using wood screws.DSCN7785Picture hangers were placed on each side.DSCN7787Once it was all assembled, I stenciled the lettering.  I used white acrylic paint and cardboard stencils that I had in my craft room.  It just didn’t look quite finished though……DSCN7788A jute bow, of course!  Doesn’t every gift need a bow?DSCN7790All done!  A sweet rustic family name sign for the bride & groom’s new home!DSCN7795
Happy Crafting!

DIY Wedding Gifts #2: Date Jar and Bridal Hanger

In my last post, I showed you the Thumbprint Wedding Guest Tree that I made for my engaged friends, Mandy & Garrett.  DSCN7770In another previous post, I showed you the Stamped Washer Necklace that I made for the bride.DSCN7878I also wanted to try my hand at those cute personalized wedding hangers…..it was surprisingly, not that difficult.  I purchased my craft wire and wooden hangers at Walmart and it was only a few dollars for several hangers.  There are several tutorials online, but I found this YouTube video helpful for getting started on the lettering:  Making Custom Wire Hangers.  Pretty cute idea, I think.
DSCN7809The other gift I put together was a “Date Jar”.  The idea is based on The Dating Divas very cool (and free) “Can ‘O Dates”.  The Divas have free printables for decorating the bucket and great date ideas to print and place inside.  Since I already had Mason jars at home, I printed a bunch of the Divas suggested dates and place them inside a “date jar”.  What a fun idea to keep couples dating each other after the wedding!DSCN7818

Have a great week!
